Blair, Nebraska ~ The Nebraska Independent College Foundation Art Show is now on display at the O’Keefe Elevator Gallery at 1402 Jones Street in Omaha, NE through the month of April.
Art students from the foundations’ 11 member colleges are exhibiting original pieces of art during this juried show. This is the first time that the show was judged by professional artists from the Omaha area. Cash prizes ranging from $50 to $500 were made to the winning two and three-dimensional pieces in addition to a “Best of Show” winner. Exhibits include paintings, drawings, sculptures and ceramics. The Dana College Art Department is proud to announce that of the approximate 250 works in the show, three of the 11 awards announced went to Dana students.
Dana College Art Student Award Winners:
Jennifer Hubert of Vermillion, SD, received a 2nd place $200 award in the 2-D category for her acrylic piece titled “Twisted Light.” Carolyn Kruger of Bellevue, NE received a 2nd place $200 award in the 3-D category for her plaster piece titled “Contemplation.” Catie Ludwig of Woodbine, IA, received an Honorable Mention $50 award in the 2-D category for her acrylic piece titled “Abstraction in Red.”
Other Dana students represented were Sheila Joedeman, Sara O’Reilly, Ariel Shearer, Adam Lewon, Casey Newsom, Kelsey Leinen, Mandy Hemphill, Karla Harshbarger, Lane Roberts, Heather Hall, Tammy Dyson, Lyndsey Ellis, Aimee Kersigo and Liubov Harton.
Several of the pieces are for sale with 25% of the proceeds funding a scholarship program for NICF art students. The exhibit may also be viewed any week-day between the hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. through the month of April.
